Project note · Privacy
Use less data. Explain the rest.
Most of Magic Almanac works without knowing who you are. Where a feature does send or keep information, that boundary is stated beside the feature and here in plain language.
The Five Measures
Personality answers and scores stay in the memory of the open browser page. They are not placed in cookies, local storage, or a database, and no request containing them is sent to Magic Almanac, OpenRouter, or an AI model. Closing, refreshing, or retaking clears them.
Birth map and celestial calculations
Name, birth date, time, place, coordinates, and calculated placements are handled in the browser and are not saved by Magic Almanac. The city search reads a local site file; it does not send the typed place to a geocoding company. Nothing is sent to Solace until a visitor deliberately sends a message.
Solace · AI reflection guide
Solace has two optional paths. Yang requires no name or birth information and sends only the recent messages in that active exchange and the new question. Yin additionally sends the visitor’s chosen name and locally calculated Sun, Moon, Rising, and Life Path placements. Raw birth date, time, birthplace, and coordinates are never included in either AI request.
Those requests go through OpenRouter to Google Gemini 3.7 Flash. The request requires an eligible zero-data-retention route and denies provider data collection. Individual personality answers are never part of that request.
Magic Almanac keeps no conversation transcript. A random session token is hashed and counted for a rolling 24-hour window only to enforce one shared ten-message allowance across Yin and Yang; the raw token and message text are not stored in that usage table. Clearing browser data can create a new anonymous session, because Magic Almanac does not use an account or invasive identity check.
The Light Letter
An address is sent to Kit only after the visitor checks the consent box and submits the Light Letter form. Kit creates an unconfirmed form subscription and sends the confirmation note. The address becomes eligible for letters only after its owner deliberately confirms it. After confirmation, one completed edition may be sent each day.
Kit stores the subscriber record and handles unsubscribe, bounce, complaint, and suppression controls. Magic Almanac’s own database does not store the readable address; it keeps keyed hashes only to prevent abusive repeat requests. A separate delivery ledger keeps the edition date, provider campaign status, and aggregate recipient count so a scheduler retry cannot send the same edition twice. Addresses are used only to operate this letter, are not sold, and are not used by Magic Almanac for personalized advertising.
Every letter includes Kit’s unsubscribe link and legally required mailing footer. Questions or data requests can be sent to hello@magicalmanac.com.
The invitation opens only after its button is pressed. Magic Almanac does not keep an invitation-dismissal or newsletter-subscription marker in local storage; confirmation and unsubscribe state remain with Kit.
Device-only preferences
If a visitor changes the motion setting, the browser keeps that choice under the local-storage key magic-almanac:motion. The value is onlyfull or reduced, never leaves that device, and remains until the visitor changes it or clears this site’s browser data. No expiry date is claimed because browser storage persists until one of those actions occurs.
If you choose a Sun sign, this tab keeps one of the twelve sign names in session storage under magic-almanac-sun-sign. It helps carry your choice between Sky Today, Learn Your Sign, and tarot. The sign is included in requests for a daily, weekly, or monthly reading. It is cleared when this tab closes or when you use “Forget” in the site index or header. No birth date is stored with it.
Daily source desk and ordinary hosting
The live source desk can ask OpenRouter to assemble a sourced bulletin. It sends a topic brief, not visitor data. Approved editions may be cached by the site. Like most public websites, the hosting platform and network providers may process standard request information needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
A careful limit
Do not place medical, legal, financial, crisis, or other highly sensitive information into Solace. It is an AI reflection guide, not a confidential professional service. Magic Almanac minimizes what it asks for, but no public Internet service can promise that transmission itself carries zero risk.
